Because I am a crazy shop-a-holic who looooves dressing Ellie up, I got an orange outfit that says "Daddy's Under My Spell" to wear all day.
When it was costume time, Ellie transformed into a ballerina (with a tiara).  Doesn't every ballerina need a tiara?
Since it was raining, we drove to 3 locations for Ellie's first trick-or-treating experience.  First stop was our neighbors Barb and Lou.  They gave Ellie an adorable little doll (talk about scoring big!).  Then we went to see Grandma and Grandpa.  Last stop was to see Davis.  He was dressed as an adorable monkey.  Russ took lots of pictures, and hopefully they will share with me some day (hint, hint).  Ellie and Davis had fun dumping candy out of the pumpkins and chewing on them (the candy, not the pumpkin).  Well, Ellie had fun chewing on them.  Especially Milky Ways.

Is it real if it is not documented?

Ellie and I like to listen to audiobooks while we are driving in the car.  For the past couple of months, we have been listening to the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld.  We are almost done with the last book - Extras - and there was a quote today that really struck me.  One of the characters, Aya, is obsessed with "kicking" good stories and becoming famous.  The most famous person in the world, Tally-wa, does not want to be filmed or reported on.  Tally tells Aya something to the effect that "something isn't less real just because it isn't caught on camera."

That got me thinking - do I live vicariously through my blogging?  Is something not real until it is blogged about?

Of course not!  Some things are to special or to personal to be put into cyberspace.  I do think of my blogs as my personal history, but it is definitely an edited history.  My friend Darci says that she has not started a blog because she would want to say things like, "My life sucks.  I hate my husband today.  I want to throw my kids off of the roof."  And then DCFS would ruin her life...  I feel like my blog is a real representation of my day-to-day life, but I definitely put my best foot forward!

And now, for your viewing pleasure, an 8 second video of Ellie doing the cutest thing ever.  She "walks" on her knees.  She has been doing this for a long time now, and it never stops being cute!
P.S.  I never post all of my videos here (because I know most of you do not care to see all of the videos I post on Tayler's blog).  If you do happen to want to see more, go to youtube and search for hlslehi.  You will find all of the videos I have ever posted...

The Farm at Thanksgiving Point

This was our first visit to the farm at Thanksgiving Point, and we had a great time!

There was a little jail time...
...and a little sharing-of-crackers time...
...and a little time with Ellie's favorite animal

All is Safely Gathered In

We had fun tonight working in the yard.  I got to try out our newish lawn mower (mostly because Ellie really wanted Greg to hold her, so I took over what he was doing).

Do you think we waited a little long to pick this zucchini?  After the photo opp, I immediately consigned this bad boy to the composter.
Ellie was a big helper and picked quite a few raspberries!

Just like Dad

Greg let Ellie play with his wallet the other day, and she promptly opened it and took out some money.  That is just a precursor to things to come, right?  Then she gnawed on it.  And left teeth marks.
Ellie also loves it when we let her play with a remote control.  She points it at the TV and seems to really believe that she is controlling things!

Ellie loves to color.  Well, she loves to take the crayons out of the box, and then drop some and say "uh oh" and then put some crayons back in the box and then shake the box and then turn the box upside down and tip the crayons out of the box.  So much fun!

Wednesday afternoon brought a super special delivery to our house - our new washer and dryer!  Greg dashed home from work to install the dryer, because the Lowe's guys are not licensed to hook up the gas.  Everything was put in and tested, and then I immediately started doing laundry.  It is still laundry - but it is fun to play with the machines!

Downward Dog

Ellie has discovered how to do "downward dog," and she loves to play peek-a-boo around her arms and between her legs.  So cute!

Mom's Birthday Celebration

To celebrate my mom's birthday, we headed to Bobi's house after the last session of Conference for dinner and cake & ice cream.  While waiting for Jon, Teri, and Gwen to arrive, we sat in Bobi's freshly painted living room and chatted.  Ellie is such a ham and looooves being the center of attention.  She was performing for us all!  She was signing and saying her words, and anytime anyway asked her to stand up, she would stand up.  We would all clap and she would laugh!  At one point, Brian didn't clap, and Ellie gave him such a stink face...
All of the food sure was yummy, and Mom was super excited that Bobi had her age on the cake...
This may very well be the first time Ellie has held her bottle by herself for an extended period of time.  She is physically capable, but has never really expressed an interest in holding it herself.  And I love to hold it for her, because she snuggles with me...
