BCL 10 year anniversary

It is amazing to me that the amazing, talented, and cool women of the Book Club Ladies are still my friends, 10 years later.  I have learned so much from these women, and treasure our friendship.  Our first meeting was in August 2002, in my basement family room in our first house.  We have had some ebb and flow with members, but settled in with our core 8 fairly early on (Kelly -- the founder, Ilene, Stephanie, Tiff, Erin, Kandice, and Tara -- who moved a few years ago and is missed).

To celebrate our 10 year anniversary, we decided to have a girls' weekend.  I think I have not stayed in a hotel room with non-relatives since high school, and it was a real treat for me!

We kicked off our festivities with a dinner at P.F. Changs and then got some shopping in.  While we were at the mall, Kelly found one of those photo-booth things, and we all hopped in.  6 months pregnant Kandice sat on Kelly's lap, Ilene was halfway in my lap and halfway out of the booth, and Tiff had her rear end pointed out.  We were giggling and laughing so hard, and the people walking by kept on laughing at us.  We didn't realize until we were done that there were video screens on the outside of the booth showing us in real time.  We realized this as we were waiting for the photos to print and got to watch the instant replay...

And then the photos didn't print -- the booth must have been out of paper.  It was so disappointing!

The best part of the night was after we made it to the hotel (a gorgeous 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite) and sat around talking & laughing.  Ilene painted all of our nails, and she has some mad skills.
Kandice brought happy anniversary balloons

Saturday was fabulous as well.  We started with a visit to Kelly's mom, who has stage 4 cancer and is in an assisted living facility.  It was great to see her again and talk with her, she is super nice (and an ardent reader of my blog--love you, Teri!).

Then followed about a hundred billion gazillion trillion gajillion hours of shopping.  There is nothing better than wandering around a couple thousand million stores in one day with your best friends.

After a yummy dinner at Rumbi (where Kandice & Kelly's food got left on the counter so long that Kelly had to go looking for it, and the manager came to apologize) and even more shopping, we headed back to the hotel for more fun and giggles.  Some people had to come and go throughout Saturday, but we were finally all together from dinner on.  Erin had bought a few fancy dresses to try on, since her husband won Best in State Principal AND his school won Best in State School and they had a fancy banquet to attend.  This happy occasion got a fashion show for us as Erin tried on her outfits.

Kandice and I finally dragged ourselves away about midnight (we both have 9 a.m. church) and the rest stayed for another night in the hotel.  I am glad Greg was able to arrange his schedule to let me take some time with my friends, and so grateful to my friends for being so wonderful that I crave time to spend with them.
