New Tricks

Lynnie has some new tricks:

She can do downward dog, and...
 ...balance on her head, and...
...look like Boo from Monsters, Inc., and...
 ...STAND UP!!!!!
This is the first time that Lynlee stood up all by herself in the middle of the floor.  What a big girl!

The Wheels on the Bus

We love singing The Wheels on the Bus anytime, and it is especially fun when Ellie gets to drive the bus at music class.

And I realized last night that I have taken less pictures of Lynnie lately, and it is because she is almost always in my arms.  She is my pal, and we are never far apart.

I Spy bags

I found some great ideas on Pinterest (thanks for the original pins, Carrie!) for colored rice and I Spy bags.  See my other blog, A Picture a Day, for the links.  Davis and Elizabeth came over this morning and we had a lot of fun putting our bags together.  Davis and Ellie loved picking one of this group and two of this group, and then scooping the rice into their bags with spoons.
Elizabeth is going to have her mom make a bag for Davis, so that will be super nice.  Our Walmart pencil cases are not that sturdy, but what do you expect for less than a dollar?

We lined up all of the objects they picked for their bags (Ellie did her arranging all by herself, but I helped Lynnie) and took a picture.  Then I printed out the pictures and we taped them to the back of the pencil case.  The final step was putting super glue on the zipper so that it cannot be opened.

hmmm, what should I find first?

shake, shake, shake.  now I can see some toys!

Smart Cookies

Emptying out the puzzle box and playing inside of it is much more fun than simply playing with puzzles.  Didn't you know that?
"Hey, Mom, I stood up all by myself!  Ellie, stop pretending to be asleep and notice me!"
"Yeah for sister!  She did it!"
"Look at my balance!  I can stand and clap at the same time."
We have discovered the joys of paint.  Ellie calls it "pank" and asks to do it every waking moment.  She sent home her first masterpiece, that you see her working on on the orange paper, with Grandma Camp.  I tried to help Lynlee do it, but she didn't really grasp the concept, so we colored with crayons instead.  That she has down!

Lehi Library Spring Fundraiser

It's that time of year when I urge you to get tickets to the Library's Spring Fundraiser.  This year the entertainment is Voice Male and the dinner is always superb.  You can call the library and get tickets over the phone, or pick them up next time you are there.  More details on the City Website.

Life in our Neck of the Woods

Lots of exciting happenings around here lately.  Greg and I were able to go and visit our newest niece, Denver Lynne, and hear the exciting story of her birth (after 16 hours of labor, an emergency c-section).  Jessica and Denver are doing great, and Denver was super sweet after she had eaten.  I snuggled her and wouldn't give her back to Greg.  Newborns smell so good!

Denver was so wide awake and had a furrowed brow.  And, like Hermione, my first thought on seeing this picture was, "is that how my hair looks in the back?"

During Lynnie's nap, Ellie and I like to spend some quiet time.  We snuggle or read stories, and Ellie was excited to read her baby a story.  It went something like this: "OK, baby, you ready?  Once upon a time, there was a big, big wolf.  OK, OK, what's next?  Hmmm.  The End."
Ellie has started to pick how I do her hair every day.  Most of the time she tells me she wants it in a ponytail and long.  And this day, she couldn't decide between the 2 Hello Kitty hair clips, so we just had to wear both.
a little dress-up action during quiet time
The play kitchen continues to be the favorite toy around here.  Ellie thought it was pretty cool to dump out the whole bucket of food and make a seat.  Lynnie thought that was pretty cool, too, and climbed right up!

The weather was so gorgeous today (is it really February?) that we loaded up in the stroller and headed over to a new "mini-park" about a mile from our house.  It was so much fun, and we even ran into a family that is in the Tuesday music class but sometimes comes to ours.  Ellie loved playing with a familiar face.  After about 20 minutes, the clouds rolled in and the wind picked up, so we packed up and headed home.  It was so fun while it lasted.

Monthly Photo Shoots

I love to take pictures of the girls on their monthly anniversaries.  I stopped when Ellie was 2, because I ran out of number stickers!

For Christmas last year, I collected my favorite shots of each girl for their first year of life and put them in a frame for each of their birth mothers (and birth grandparents as well).  It was so fun to revisit my photo archives and see how much they have changed, and yet how much they have stayed the same.

The 0 month picture I took for each girl on the day we brought them home from the hospital.

Lynlee
I discovered the number stickers from Picky Sticky when Ellie was 15 months old, and quickly ordered a set for her 2nd year, and after we learned about Lynlee, ordered a set for her as well.

Lynlee's pictures made for the perfect decoration at her first birthday party.

Fun in the Truck

We headed to Provo this morning to meet Lynnie's birth mom for lunch, and I meant to bring the Festival papers with me to hand off to the head of the Festival afterwards.  (Kelly and I spent a fun few hours on Wednesday scheduling the K-6th graders that will be playing in Piano Festival on March 3rd.)

I even put my phone on the stack of papers so that I would not forget them.

Do you see where this is headed?

I picked up my phone and not the papers, and didn't remember until after the girls and I had picked up Greg from work and were almost to Zupa's.

After a nice lunch with M, we headed home, the girls both took a nap, and then we headed south again to make the hand-off.  Carla was nice enough to meet me almost halfway at the Macey's in Orem.  We beat her there, and the girls had an awesome time playing in the back of the truck while we were waiting.  Lynnie kept on yelling "ah! ah!" and Ellie was jumping and hopping all over the truck bed.

Lynnie is turning into such a playful, teasing girl!  When it was time to go, I pretended to "get" her, and she started laughing like crazy, and then high-tailed it to the other side of the truck, out of my reach.  I ran around the truck, and she waited until I "got" her again, and then scooted back to the other side.  This went on for a long time, with lots of laughs -- she is so fun!  I finally had to climb in the truck bed myself to get her.

Self-Timer Experiment, Owies, Cousins, Lights, and Vanities

I have decided I need to be in more pictures, so I grabbed Lulu and tried out the self-timer.  I clearly did not get the camera focused correctly...

Ellie got herself pretty good in the lip.  She had a Hello Kitty elastic in her hair (the kind with a marble-type thing on each end).  She took it out, and apparently was chewing on it, and snapped her lip.

a little ice makes everything better
My cousin Jen and her daughter Abby came on Friday and spent the night.  Jen is my closest cousin (only 1 week apart in age) and we have so much fun together.  We stayed up til 1 a.m. talking and laughing and getting caught up.  Growing up, I always felt so special because I got to stay with Jen and her sisters Kami and Jami when the rest of the family stayed with Aunt Lois, Uncle Myron, and Grandpa & Grandma.
Abby is in Kindergarten, but is so tall that she seems older!

Ellie said that Abby is her cousin and also her friend.  That's how I feel about Jen!

Basement Update

We have lights and we have bathroom vanities!
Cody replaced the chintzy builder-provided light fixture at the bottom of the stairs, and I cannot believe how much better it looks with a real light - and the quality of the light is 1000% better as well.
