Gotcha Day

11/11 is Lynlee's Gotcha Day.  The day we went to the hospital and met with Lynlee's angel birth mom.  The day {M} placed Lynlee in my arms and in our family.

Lynlee's birth was traumatic.  {M} had pre-eclampsia so labor was induced a couple of weeks early.  She went in the hospital at 3:30 a.m., was induced at 7 a.m., and delivered at 8:56 p.m.  That was a loooong day.  Then she had a seizure and hemorrhaged.  Lynlee also stopped breathing after birth, turned blue, and had to be resuscitated.

Scary times for {M} and her parents.  We didn't hear about it until hours after the fact, and our hearts ached for {M} and what she had gone through.

Because of the complications of the birth, {M} needed to stay in the hospital an extra day.  She invited Greg and I to come on the evening of the 10th to sign some papers and meet Lynlee.  This was a sweet experience, to be invited to share in {M}'s precious time with her baby.

We were instantly in love with this little bundle of joy.  And overwhelmed with love for {M}.

After visiting with {M} and her family for a little while, and loving on Lynlee, we left the hospital and went home.  Leaving {M} and Lynlee in the hospital gave me a small glimpse into the heartache that birth moms experience.

We were back the next morning for placement.

Gotcha Day is a time to celebrate {M}.  She is strong, and capable, and intelligent, and courageous.  She is an integral part of our family.  We love her so much!
