Birthday Visit

Ellie's favorite day all year is when we get to play with Tayler and celebrate their birthdays (only two days apart).  We met at the new splash pad by our house and had a great time.  We beat Tayler and her family there, and Ellie anxiously awaited their arrival.

Presents were first on the agenda.  Ellie loved the new Baby Alive from Tayler.

Ellie spent a lot of time drawing this card for Tayler.  The front had a picture of a turtle, and Ellie drew another one inside.  Her heartfelt note is the best thing I think I have ever read!

to my favorite mom
tayler! Dear tayler
You are the Best mom!
I will always love you.
even if you die.
love Ellie

Then we spent a couple of hours happily playing in the water and on the playground.

Cece also loved the new doll.

We sure love Tayler and her sweet family!  I am grateful every day for her, and that we know her and are a part of her life.

Cece's Progress & Neptune Park

Cece is making a lot of progress!  Last November, pre-implant, we did a baseline on her listening skills.  They were not very good, which we were not surprised at, since she couldn't really hear or process anything.  Her results are in the shaded area on this chart, which is not where you want your child to be.  Today at our audiologist appointment, we answered the questionnaire again, and all celebrated because she has moved out of the shaded area, which means she is out of the danger zone and above the 25th percentile.  Go, Cece!

Our last Kindermusik class of the summer was super fun.  Ellie tried to help me "hammock" Cece, but we couldn't do it together.  Hammocking Puppy is much more fun.

We've been trying to find time to spend a chunk of time at Neptune Park (which we drove by to get to Miss Leda's house), but we were always hurrying off somewhere (usually to play with Amy).  This was our last class, so we just stopped.  It was fun, but really, really hot.  We didn't last very long.

Ellie is in the middle of this picture, and Lynnie is walking on the ground.

Cece found this seat in the semi-shade and was content to swing with the baby doll.

. : almost there : .

Ellie made it to the top!

July 18 - 23

Cece is loving our summer Kindermusik "camp."  I have missed taking a girl to class with Miss Leda.  She has moved from 2 minutes away to 20 minutes away, but it is still worth it to go.  Miss Leda is so generous with the all the girls, letting them sit in on each other's classes (Lynnie also was able to squeeze into the preschool class one last time).

Going to the Animal Fair -- you know, the birds and the beasts were there, and the big baboon by the light of the moon, was combing his auburn hair...

In Cece's class, they built something (a bridge, maybe?) by pounding a rat-a-tat-tat rhythm.  Cece thought for sure she should do that in Lynnie's class, too.

Lynnie doing strength moves on the bar.

Ellie on the beam.

After gymnastics we went to Rumbi for dinner.  Cece was trying to take my picture on Ellie's iPod.

Wednesday was a busy day!  We started with some sister snuggles (that I'm sure Ellie was really excited about), and...

...played for a few minutes at Neptune Park on our way to Kindermusik, and ...

... had great classes, especially when Cece got to play Miss Leda's violin, and ...

... hung out with Aunt Amy, and then came home to play with friends and paint our faces, and ...

... went to McKinzie's bridal shower.  Kinz was one of my very first piano students in Utah, and we have always clicked.  I started teaching her when she was in kindergarten, and now she is a returned missionary and about to be married!  She is adopted, and was my first real introduction to how adoption can work well.  I claim her as my first daughter (tied with Ky and Kiki), and it was fun to be introduced at her shower as one of her second moms!  I told the girls we were not going to stay very long, but they were so well behaved we ended up staying for most of the party.  I loved this gorgeous light as we were leaving.

We were playing with Baylee and Denver, and Ellie got B to take a nap on her lap.  We thought it was cute that B had to be touching E's neck the whole time.

Just a little light reading.

Cece was trying to get Lynnie to sit on her lap.

Amy's flight was schedule to leave in the evening, so Aunt Chris hosted a brunch to say good-bye to her.  Robyn was passing through town, and we realized this was the first time all 5 of us Camp siblings had been together in years.  So of course we had to take a picture.
Robyn, Amy, Bobi, Heather, and Jon

Ellie and Lynnie were in heaven that there was a baby there to hold.  Maya is their 2nd cousin, and Lynnie especially was excited that they are both Latina and with Mexican heritage.

July 11 - 17

We love going to swimming lessons at the Jan Lamb Swim School.  It's held at a private house tucked away in a ravine about five minutes from our house.  The first day, we saw two baby deer running through the trees, and Cece was sad that we never saw them again.

Ellie and Lynnie were up first.  Ellie loved being the oldest and most experienced in her class.  I had a hard time deciding back at registration where to put her.  The classes are divided as Minnows, ages 3-6, and Sting Rays, ages 6-8.  I decided it would probably be good to keep her and Lynnie together for one last summer.

After their class was over, Cece and I got to go to the Parent & Tot class.  I asked Ellie to take some pictures of us.

Ellie is fearless and loves to go off the diving board.

Lynlee is officially an UPSTART graduate!  I am proud of her hard work over this last year.  She has learned a lot, and is even reading.

It is special to see Greg being able to set apart these men that were special to him when he was their Bishop.  I love when my friends post pictures like this on Facebook that I can snag.

Somehow we got on the list to go with David to a customer appreciation night with one of his clients.  It was a fun night with cousins and Aunt Tammy!  We started with a train ride.

And then went to face painting before the lines got too long.  Cece was nervous, and the expert suggested doing her arm.  It was perfect.

I loved the real artists that were there.  Ellie asked for an owl, and her artist didn't even hesitate.  She created this darling owl.

Lu got a dolphin.

Then we used our food vouchers for a yummy free dinner from the food trucks.  We got Costa Vida and Waffle Love and a L'il Caeaser's Pizza.

Ellie took a selfie, and...

...a picture of Andrew Batman.

Next we played for a long time on this giant bounce house.  It was in the shade and that made the temperature just right.

We walked up to the front building for a potty break and some mini-golf, and then on our way back ran into these princesses.  Cece just stood there and smiled at them.

The last thing we did was get snow cones, and then watched Ellie and Andrew rock climb.  Ellie did the best she's ever done, going up more than halfway.

Building Legos with your sister is the best way to spend a Saturday morning.

Lynlee got to go with Albert to her cousin Alex's birthday party.  She had a great time.

Her favorite part was the water balloon fight.

Cece's hair was absolutely perfect this day, and I was trying to get a picture of it that would do it justice.  I wasn't having much luck, but Ellie and Lynlee hopped in there to try to help, and I ended up with the sweetest sister picture.

Happy birthday to the best man I know!
