Shoe tying success!
So fun to come to volunteer in Lynlee's classroom, and get to observe the last few minutes of her reading group. Lynnie is turning into quite the reader! We still need to work on confidence, but she has a solid base and is really good at sounding out words.
Happy birthday to me! Greg and the girls took me out to a yummy dinner, and then we picked up Sweet Tooth Fairy treats to bring home. A perfect end to my relaxing spa day (a.k.a. the best birthday tradition ever).
Cece is not a fan of cake. She does like frosting, so we got her a sugar cookie to lick the frosting off of to her heart's content.
More fun on the bus. Wearing a princess dress to school and all tucked in with her blanket.
For the 100th day of school, the kindergarteners got to dress like they were 100 years old, and counted to 100 multiple times.
It was Eliana's day to be a celebrity in her class! This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. She spent hours creating her poster and coloring it just so.
Greg and I got to come and watch the presentation part. Mrs Dominguez had her sit in the special director's chair, and she used a "game show host" voice to interview Eliana about her poster and her life.
Then Mrs D had the other students tell things they really liked about Eliana, and Mrs D wrote the sentences on the board.
Eliana got to use the pointer, and the whole class read the sentences aloud. She was beaming from the positive attention! It was sweet to watch her classmates shower her with love.
After Greg and I left, her friends all picked their favorite sentence about her and copied it on a paper. Mrs D collected the papers and sent it home. Here are some of my favorites:
They do this every Friday for a different student. It bonds the class and helps everyone feel special. Plus, they get a lot of reading and writing practice!
