Lunch at Goodwood

Greg, Ellie, and I met Greg, Natalie, and Addie today for lunch at our "usual" place.  Always fun to get together, even when I forget to take pictures of our friends!
P.S.  This was all set to be my picture of the day, until Ellie got stuck in her toy basket.  Check that out on my other blog!

Getting Ready to Crawl

Ellie is getting pretty close to crawling.  She can scoot all over, and she has started to push up on her hands and knees.  Smart girl!
Ellie and Davis shared toys today happily!

Do you think we will have attitude problems with Ellie as she grows up?  Check out this expression!

Visiting Teachers

My visiting teachers came over today, and Elizabeth and Davis made it a little earlier than Ginger and her girls.  Davis is so mobile, and it is fun to see him crawl around.  Ellie kept on grunting at him; it was pretty funny.  She wasn't quite sure what to think about sharing her toys.
This outfit was also a present from Tayler.

Ellie has the sweetest disposition!  She has had a little bit of a runny nose today.  I tried so hard to stay away from her this weekend, but perhaps it is inevitable for her to catch whatever I have had...
This super cute capri outfit was a gift from Tayler last Christmas.  Ellie can finally wear it!  The cashier-lady at the post office today asked if Ellie was a present, because she was wearing bows in her hair.  I loved that thought!  Ellie is definitely a gift.

Spring - and a Maraca

I got Ellie a maraca at the music store, and it is her new favorite toy!  Easy to hold, and a better "rattle" than the rattles we already have.  And I am loving this gorgeous weather, and the chance to put Ellie in her short-sleeved outfits.

The Weekend

Last Thursday I got to see Jon Schmidt in concert at the Library Gala.  My friend Amy and I snagged a picture with him after the show - and he is pretty short!
On Friday night, Greg, Ellie, and I joined Todd and Rachel in watching their 2 oldest boys play in a regional church basketball game.  (They lost...).  Ellie loves Uncle Todd - and her snail!
After the game we went to dinner at Kneader's, and then we all headed to Grandma and Grandpa's house to visit with Grandpa's sister Margaret.  Daniel loves to take pictures for me, and he got a couple of funny shots of us when we were getting Ellie ready for bed.
Last night we celebrated Greg's mom's birthday at our house.  We first had Mom, Dad, Daniel, Tammy, and Rod over for dinner, cooking many of mom's favorite foods (shrimp, mahi mahi, twice-baked potatoes, salad, rolls).  Then Todd & Rachel and Paul & Staci and Dave (along with all of the kidlets) joined us for dessert, which was a lemon bonanza.  I made lemon bars, Todd made lemon cheesecake, and Staci and Dave both made lemon cakes.  Yum!

6 Month Doctor Visit

Even though Ellie is 7 months old, we just had her 6 month doctor visit today (our doctor has been out of town).  She is still growing, although it has slowed down since her last appointment.  For more details, check out my other blog.  We didn't have any "stranger anxiety" tears on this visit, and I credit that with walking in with a toy clutched in her cute little fingers, and Ellie promptly deciding the head-measurer-thingie was her new favorite toy.  I'm just glad it worked!

Do you wish you were this flexible?
P.S. Note the beautiful towel and blanket given to Ellie by marvelous Mary - she keeps us decked out in style!

Greg's Uncle Ed was in town overnight, after taking a 3500 mile trip from Montana to Kansas City to Phoenix to Lehi, on his way back to Montana.  I texted Tammy to find out what the plans were, and she said they were meeting for dinner at 4 at Texas Roadhouse.  I texted back, "Holy senior citizens!"  It is kind of a running joke about how early grandmas and grandpas like to eat dinner.  It was smart in this case, though, because we totally beat the crowd.  I have eaten at this restaurant 3 times now, and every time Ellie has slept completely through it.  This is amazing to me, because it has to be the noisiest restaurant ever!

After dinner, we all headed back to the homestead to hang out.  Ellie let Uncle Ed hold her for a minute, but then she was done.  I love the expression on her face!  (Don't worry, I "rescued" her right after taking this picture...)
Ellie was fascinated by Andrew, and just wanted to play by him all night long.  She was happiest when she was touching him!  Andrew shared his cars very well with Ellie, and he wanted to play with her toys, too.  Although, it is probably easy to share when Ellie didn't care about switching cars around, as long as she had something in her hand.  How fun to have cousins!

Steph's Birthday Lunch

“As I have attempted to establish priorities, I have learned that we may almost always have too much to do. As a mother at home with only two children, I have too much to do. How much greater the demands are for women who work outside the home or whose families are large or who are parenting their children alone! As I think about our time constraints, I conclude that God has not intended that we should be able to do everything we would like to do. If there were not more to do than we are individually capable of doing, we wouldn't have to make choices and we would never realize what we value most.” - Jeanne Inouye, “Be of Good Cheer,” Ensign (CR), November 1993, p. 96

How grateful I am that I have good friends that help me prioritize my time!  We got together yesterday for a potluck lunch to celebrate Steph's birthday.  I pulled my camera out to take a picture of Thomas and Ellie (which didn't turn out great) before lunch, and then forgot about it until half of the ladies had left.  And then I took a really great picture of Ilene, Tiff, Kandice, and Erin, but Ilene said I am not allowed to post any more pictures of her on the blog.

So, here for your viewing pleasure is a cute picture of Ilene's Miss Ellie.
Getting together was just what I needed.  It was fun having all of the younger kids there (made for beautiful background music).  At one point I was feeding my Ellie a bottle, and she dropped her toy.  Erin's Tait was being helpful and bent down to pick it up for me.  I asked him to give it back to Ellie and he immediately started around the table to give it to Ilene's Ellie.  So I told him that my baby was also named Ellie, and he was a little confused that there could be 2 babies with the same name!

Happy birthday Steph!  You look awesome for having just turned 28.  Or is it 33?  You are so young!

7 Months Old

Ellie's 7 months old highlights:

* loves to sit up and is perfectly content if she has toys to play with
* will stay in her jumper as long as I let her - and often whimpers when I pull her out of it
* still not sure about eating from a spoon - much prefers her bottle
* starting to talk more and more, and will just babble away
* recognizes some signs and words
* loves to be sung to, especially the songs from Baby Signing Time
* recognizes that when Daddy's truck turns on, Dad is about to leave, and will get fussy
* loves to be in the water, either the bathtub or the shower
* giggles whenever she sees the "baby" in the mirror
* prefers to lay down in her crib and go to sleep - which is awesome when we are home and tough when we are out and about (because she resists being rocked to sleep)

Tammy has figured out how to prop Ellie up on her knees.  She seemed to like it.  Will it make her crawl faster?  It is also amazing to me how Ellie will hold on to her snail, even when she is fast asleep.
