48 Degrees

We headed up the canyon to visit Greg's parents, who were camping in Woodland (above Heber).  When we left to come home that night, it was a blissful 48 degrees.

After a great dinner, we got ready to go for a 4-wheeler ride.   Ellie came up with a great way to bring Lambie along for a treat.

I rode on the jump seat behind Grandpa, and Lulu loved helping him drive.

After a short ride, we got out to take a walk on this gorgeous trail by a river.
 Lu is signing "water"
After a few minutes of watching the water, Ellie decided she had had enough.  In one of her (mostly) cute pouts, she took off up the trail by herself.  We quickly caught up to her and had a talk about sticking together!

Lynnie loves the "wah wah" and the "wocks"
I said, "show me your beautiful face!"

Daniel is so funny on his bike!  He caught up to us before the hike and then was impatient to get back to riding.

Ellie concurred.

On this stretch, we drove behind Daniel.  Lynnie said the whole time, "Danny.  Bike.  Danny!"
Poor Grandma waited for us at the trailer.  It was nice of her to let me take her seat!
Signing "water" again--had to tell Grandma what we saw

Daddy Time

We love it on nights when Greg is home.  Ellie loves to play with her "favorite pal" and always enlists Greg to do her bidding.
Lulu always wants to swing with the blanket--either herself or her animals.  She loves when Dad can help Mom do that!

Dad & Grandpa

We went to visit Greg's parents the other night and got there just as Grandpa was finishing a 4-wheeler ride with Andrew and Emily.  The girls quickly took their own turn.

Greg was trying to help Ellie understand that Grandpa is his dad, but Ellie was not really getting the generational thing.  She very seriously said, "Dad, you know the rule.  We can share Grandpa!"

Lynnie loves to swing on the counter, and Ellie got in there for a little action as well.  Ellie gets a better swing going, because her arms are longer and her face fits under the desk.

Ellie loves to "pank" and it is probably still her favorite art thing to do (perhaps cutting with scissors is a close second).  She enlisted Greg's help and they painted a pretty picture.

Rhyming Dust Bunnies

Rhyming Dust Bunnies is currently Ellie's favorite book.  She can "read" it herself, and she is very dramatic and comical when the other dust bunnies are talking to Bob.  Lynnie will ask for "Bob" also.

Here is the action from our favorite part in this favorite book:
And then, the ultimate line, that Ellie always delivers with panache:

Sharing is Hard Sometimes

Ellie is the sweetest kid, 95% of the time. But that other 5% fills my day with drama.

 And she's only 3!

I am so grateful that M entrusted us with Lynnie, because Ellie is the nicest sister. And I cannot imagine her as an only child.

 That would have been Trouble.

The Office

We have made strides, and it is looking a thousand gazillion times better.

We got home from Ikea just in time for me to turn around to meet my BCLs for a girls' night.  After Greg and the girls got dinner, they got to work assembling the bookshelves.  Ellie got her toolkit and was a big helper!

When I got home after 10, Ellie was still helping and Lynnie was in bed (they had fallen asleep on the way home from Ikea and didn't wake up til 6ish).  As I was talking to Greg, Lynnie started calling for mommy and I got her some more milk.  I finally got Ellie in bed after 11, and then we finished the last shelf.

It looked so good that we started unpacking (about midnight).

Around 1:30, we basked in the glow of a project well done and went to bed for a few hours.  We were both still awake when Lynnie woke up for her 2 a.m. feeding.

Poor Greg got up at 5 for bishopric meetings. I at least got another 90 minutes.

Next steps: lighting and comfortable chairs.
Strong girl tried to swing, but it wasn't so successful.

Bathtub & Park

Lynnie has figured out how to climb into the "big tub."  She is hilarious in there!  She especially likes to duck down and pop up to say "pee boo" to Ellie.

Ellie was pretty proud of herself this morning, also.  She came running in when I was in the shower to tell me that she put a sock on Lynlee, all by herself.

After we were ready, and Greg had done some last minute temple recommend interviews, we packed up and headed out to have a picnic in the park.  Lynnie was not interested in eating, she just wanted to show off her excellent climbing and sliding skills.  Her new favorite toy is this colorful bug that birthgrandma gave her when she was a baby.  She carries it everywhere and sleeps with it, too.
Ellie was content to watch Sister for a while and eat a little of her lunch.  She spilled her lemonade all over herself, which necessitated a clothing change.  I always carry a complete change in the car, and putting it on her today was a good note to self that this outfit is too small!  She's only had to wear it twice, and Lynlee once in the past 3 months.
After a little lunch, Ellie was ready to play as well.  She is getting much more adventurous, and I think it is because of her gymnastics class.  She is more brave about trying new things and using her body.

When the swings were free, we headed over.  Definitely a favorite!
Greg was teaching Ellie how to pump her feet, and she did pretty good for her first time.
At one point, Greg accidentally pushed the swing out from under Ellie and she fell on the ground.  After a few tears, she was excited to swing some more.

Ellie packed her "pack pack" to bring on the picnic.  It was really heavy, and one contributing factor was the photo album she put in (pictures of her first Christmas in Montana).

I have been meaning to take a picture of well-loved Lambie for a while.  The sadder she looks, the more Ellie loves her.  She is pretty threadbare in spots now and I am worried about the day she completely falls apart, beyond my ability to fix.  I have fixed quite a few things already, but I don't have magic skills!

Lambie used to be so soft and fluffy!

Fun Times

We had planned to head up the canyon again for FHE, but Hailey had just had surgery on both big toes for ingrown toenails.  She said she would be fine, but Julie and I opted to have dinner here instead.  Lynlee loves her friends!  She loves to say their names and snuggle them all, especially Mom Julie.
Brian thinks he is so tricky!

Lynnie started to slide down the couch (on purpose) and then just hung out for a while, kicking her feet.

This big girl loves to swing--in blankets, in actual swings, hanging from the oven door handle--wherever.  She is also super strong!

Ellie wanted to push her bed out to the family room, but I told her there was already a bed out there.  The girls grabbed their pillows and we played on the bed for a long time.  That night we read stories on it, and Ellie wanted to sleep there all night.
