Ellie was helping me take pictures of Cece, but Cece was not very happy about it.  Ellie tries so hard to help Cece be happy, but sometimes Ellie will freak out and say things like, "Cece doesn't love me anymore!  All she does is cry when I hold her!"

This cute zebra outfit was a gift from Aunt Jonette, and the headband was a gift from {R}.

We had fun playing with Elizabeth, Davis, and Callie today!  It is always good to see them and catch up.

After our friends left, we packed up and headed to the Dinosaur Museum.  It was Lynnie's idea, and my first time taking the girls by myself.  Cece slept the whole time, and Ellie and Lynnie were very good and always stayed in my eye line.

While we were driving over, Lynnie asked, "when will Albert and Kanisha be there?"  I had to explain I hadn't invited them this time, and it was just us.  When we got to the museum, Lynnie took off her coat, looked around the lobby, and asked, "when is Daddy coming?"  It was so sweet that she expected the group we normally have at the museum!

We love the Tinkering Room and spent about an hour there.  It was nice to just wander around and do what they wanted.  It wasn't too crowded, either, which was a real plus.

They loved building these shape puzzles.  We probably did this for 20 minutes.  Ellie did the turtle, of course!

The whole reason Lynnie wanted to go to the museum was to dig in the sand.  Last time, we skipped this part in order to go get some lunch.  We were excited to do the other activities, but even more excited to get here!

We walked over to the deli for dinner, and both Lynnie and Cece were ready for milk.  I pulled Cece's car seat out of the stroller so that Lynnie could lay down.  After she was done with her milk, she pretended to be a baby, and Ellie fed her dinner.  Literally put bites in her mouth.  It was adorable!  The Cheetos were her "puffs" and Ellie decided Lynnie was a big enough baby to have bites of chicken nuggets.

Cece was awake and happy, although you can't tell in this picture!

A Big Day

When we saw {R} last night, she gave Cece a whole bunch of headbands she had made.  I had set them out on the counter overnight to air out, and when Ellie woke up this morning, the first thing she did was look them over.  Then she said, "ewww, why are they so stinky?"

{R}s parent's house has a wood-burning furnace.  I thought the headbands smelled delightfully woodsy/smokey, but Ellie was not a fan.  A little Febreze, and they are perfect!

Lynnie was in heaven at Kindermusik this morning, because Miss Leda pulled out her school bus, and she got to "drive" it while we all sang The Wheels on the Bus.

After class, we made some apple whole wheat pancakes for lunch.  Ellie wanted to use her special shape maker.

After making a couple of batches of shapes, I cooked up some regular ones to use up the rest of the batter (we love to freeze and then toast them later).  But I got distracted with a crying baby.  And a few minutes later, I smelled something burning and remembered my pancakes.

Big oops!  Luckily nothing caught on fire...

Lynnie asked me to make her a wrap for her baby, so she could match me.

The weather was so nice that it felt like spring.  While Ellie was at her Kindermusik class, Lynnie, Cece, and I played at a park near Miss Leda's house.  It was so much fun!

Lynnie especially loved playing in her castle.

The park was so much fun that after we picked up Ellie, we picked up her friend Hannah and played at another park.  It didn't last very long, though, because Lynnie needed to go potty.  Ellie tried to convince her she didn't need to go, but nature won out.

Lynnie's favorite food is ... flour.

Yep, you read that right.

Good ole flour!

She discovered it a few months ago when we were making rolls.  Each girl had their own dough balls that they were forming into rolls, and Lynnie just leaned over and licked some flour off of the counter.

She will eat it with a spoon or a fork.  And she likes to dip all sorts of food in it:  celery, carrots, crackers,  and veggie straws.

But her favorite way to eat flour?

With a toothpick.

Lynnie discovered the power of a toothpick at a New Year's party, when she ate Lil Smokies with a toothpick.

Lynnie will eat flour at all three meals, and sometimes as her snack as well.  I just figure it's better than eating dirt!

I Can Tell A Story

Ellie is constantly amazing me with how much she can read.  When we got her Kindergarten registration packet, there were some worksheets included that we were supposed to do together.  She got so excited to do her "homework" that she grabbed some markers and worked on the pages in the car.  She read all of the instructions and completed all of the pages, except for the one she needed to cut out shapes.

When we got home, she excitedly showed me what she had done.  My favorite was this page:

And this is her story:

"This is me and I have a sad face.  And that's Lynlee, and she has a mad face.  And see this line right here?  That's a swatch {scratch} because Lynlee swatch-ed me.  That's why I'm sad.  I don't like to be swatched."

These two are so hilarious together!  My favorite time of day is bedtime, not for any cliched reason, but because they happily go to bed with their bedtime playlist going on the iPad, and they just talk and giggle and read each other stories.  It is a golden end to our halcyon days.

A couple of nights ago, Ellie was exhausted, and Lynnie was wide awake.  Lynnie had taken a nap that day, so she was ready to go!  Greg peaked in at them, and Ellie was laying on her side, practically asleep.  Lynnie was laying on top of her, saying, "do you wanna build a snowman?  It doesn't have to be a snowman!"

We could not stop laughing at how she was acting out that scene from Frozen perfectly.

Cecilia is 1 Month Old

Cece was so happy after our photo shoot, playing with Lynnie, that I quickly went to the bathroom.  I returned to find Cece sound asleep on the floor.  That has never happened before!

At 1 month old, Cece

~ weighs 7 pounds 15 ounces
~ is wearing 0-3 month clothes, newborn diapers, and newborn shoes
~ is eating 2 ounces every 2-3 hours
~ has finally figured out her nights and days
~ tends to have at least one fussy episode a day.  But today was her best day yet--Cece was happy and alert all day.  She did not cry at all, not even during diaper changes or when she was hungry.  It was a tender mercy.
~ has captured our hearts!  We are so in love with her.  We are eternally grateful to {R} for choosing us to raise Cecilia.

Fresh Air

We have all had a cold this week, and so we have stayed home and tried to recuperate.  We were all going a little stir crazy, so we went for a walk a couple of days ago in our unseasonably warm weather.  Today seemed nice again after the snow flurries yesterday, so we headed out again.

It was colder than we thought, so we only made it to the end of the block before turning around.  But we had fun while it lasted!

Ellie is getting really good at her tricycle.  She controls her speed pretty well going down our hill, and can mostly pedal herself back up the hill.

There's a baby bundled up in there somewhere!

Kind girl gave her sister a ride!
