September 21 - 30

One of the highlights of going to Sound Beginnings is that we pass at least 4 fields with horses.  Sometimes we pull over and let Cece look as long as she wants.  She signs HORSE enthusiastically and neighs to her heart's content.  Cece was in heaven finding this cat in teacher's house, too.

This messy closet has been an annoyance in the back of my mind for months now.  Cece and I decided it was a good day to just tackle it and get it over with.  I purchased an over the door shoe organizer that I hung on the back of the powder room door, and relocated the hats, gloves, and scarves to that.  Now they are accessible and in a location where we grab them as we head out of the door.

Ellie gave Cece the idea to carry the baby around like this. Makes it much easier to play.

Some of the latest art creations.

Years ago, my department bought a laptop for me to use.  I used that thing forever, but then it got old and slow, and I was teaching only online, and so I stopped using it.  I asked about turning it in, but the department chair at the time said they had no need for it (because it was so old and slow) and to not worry about.  Luckily I stuck it in my closet, because I got an email a few weeks ago saying that I need to bring it back so that it could be cleared off of their books.

I decided to turn it in to a Friday adventure, so we picked up Grandma and headed to the grand old AEB.  Cece fell asleep about 5 minutes before we got there, so the big girls and I headed in to take the computer back.

Of course, Cece woke up right as we left, but Grandma kept her entertained while we chatted inside and used the restroom.

Then we went to visit Grandma Great's grave.  It's the first time I've been there since the funeral.

Fun times with play dough.

Just waiting for the bell to ring.

Taking Ellie to Let's Play Music is always fun in this gorgeous weather.  Ellie rode off super fast and you can just see her if you look closely.
I like to help at the Book Fair, and Lynnie and Cece were excellent helpers.

SEPs are great, and it is always good to get news.  Lynnie is doing well with reading skills.  UPSTART prepared her well for kindergarten.

Ellie also got excellent news from her teacher.  She is reading a grade level ahead right now (her score is higher than where she will need to be at the end of 2nd grade/beginning of 3rd grade).

. : self report : .

Lynlee was being Cece's teacher and worked really hard to create this white board.  She wrote the alphabet and the numbers to 36.  She did not want her picture taken, though...

Take my picture!

September 16 - 18

We love going to the school carnival!  Lynnie's favorite thing was getting her hair sprayed pink.

Another highlight was when Lynlee tried to dunk her teacher Mrs Holmgren in the dunk tank.  She missed with the balls, but Mrs Holmgren had her run up and just push the button with her hand.

The bouncy houses were also fun, until...

...Ellie jumped off the edge of one onto Greg's back, catching him unawares, and chipping her tooth on his head.  She called it her Utah tooth, because it is shaped like our great state.  It was pretty sharp until the dentist took care of it for us.

Another successful violin recital is in the books!  (And where did that expression come from, anyway?)  For this recital, Ellie got to pick a song that was at least 5 songs before where she is now (once she's in Book 2, she will pick a Book 1 song, and etc).  Ellie did well, despite some challenges.  Her tooth was sharp and hurting her lip, and she accidentally knocked her violin off the counter right before the recital and broke her fingerboard.  Grandma rigged it so it was playable, but it would not stay in tune, and that distracted Ellie as well.

Cece entertained herself almost the whole time by putting stickers on and off my arm.

The highlight for Lynlee was eating snacks with her friends, the Glod sisters, afterwards.

Ellie worked hard to learn the Star Wars theme song.  It was a fun challenge for her to play this music, that was harder than anything she had tackled before.

Cece is my helper in the morning.  She likes to get out all of my stuff as I'm getting ready: my contact stuff, my lotion, my comb.  This morning she also got my toothbrush all ready for me while I was in the shower.

Cece wants to do her own hair right now.

The girls wore their new matching dresses to church.  This is what it looks like when I am trying to get that perfectly posed photo before 9 a.m. church.

Lynnie and Cece wanted to walk to church, but I do not think they are big enough yet to cross 3200 N.  So Ellie and I trailed them in the van, and then I made them hop in with us to cross the busy road.  They were darling just marching down the road.

Cece's pigtails were perfect, but she wouldn't let me get a picture.  She loves to tease me!

I got her to pose with this doll, since they had matching hair.

We love making kraut noodles for dinner.  Cece loves to play with real dough (and play dough -- any type of dough, really!)

September 2 - 9

We've had a nasty virus running through our family -- first Ellie, then me, then Cece, then Lynnie, then Greg.  Thankfully, Greg got it the least amount, and was better in one day.  The rest of us took 2-5 days to get better.  When Ellie was on the mend, and I had just started, Greg took Cece out to play in the backyard.  It was (literally) a golden hour, with a gorgeous sunset happening all around them.  Cece figured out if she was barefoot, she could climb up the slide, and they happily played for a long time.

Cece kept me well entertained while I was recuperating.  She would tiptoe in my bedroom, pretend to take my picture, and then run away laughing.

By Monday, everyone was better except Lynnie.  Greg took Cece and Ellie out to give them a break from the sick house.

Some of the words we are working on with Cece during speech therapy.

More fun climbing on the slide.

Cece discovered that markers do not work as well as lip gloss.

A bath is an awesome way to get clean, since she needed her face washed.

Those sunglasses would not stay in her mop. They kept on falling off, and Cece would erupt in giggles.
